Basically the camera will keep to its original design, except that in the case of the limited edition model, Olympus will introduce the use of a titanium color where both the top and bottom plates will be swapped out to better mimic the OM-3/Ti from back in 1994. Now we should note that as per Olympus’ press release, this will not actually incorporate the use of titanium, but rather the color.
According to Olympus, “The beautifully redesigned E-M5 Mark II will be available in a distinctively retro, titanium-tinted body that evokes the golden age of the original Olympus OM series, a period that laid the foundations for the flagship Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras of today.” Granted the use of actual titanium would have made it ridiculously expensive, so if you want the look but not the price tag, this might be it.
Olympus only plans on launching 7,000 units of it and apart from the new coat of paint, everything else under the hood will remain identical to the original OM-D E-M5 II. It will be priced at £999.99 for the body-only, while the model with lens kit will cost £1349.99. It is expected to go on sale starting June 2015.
