Rumors of Apple building their own TV set have been floating about for years, although it was recently revealed that Apple had reportedly shelved the project as they were unable to create a device that was compelling enough to break into the already-competitive TV market. However it seems that investor Carl Icahn believes otherwise and is convinced that the rumored TV set from Apple is still in the works.
In an interview with CNBC’s Halftime Report, Icahn reiterated his belief and was quoted as saying, “I’m not backtracking in anyway. I believe they [Apple] will do a TV. That’s my belief.” Given that Apple has not officially announced anything, it is unclear as to who is to be believed at this point in time, but as the saying goes, seeing is believing.
There have been rumors that Apple is building their own TV set. These rumors were further fueled in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs in which Apple’s late co-founder was quoted as saying that he had cracked the TV problem. However apart from the quote, there has not been any physical evidence of Apple actually making such a device.
There were reports that Apple was testing out various display sizes and panels, but nothing else has materialized since. In any case like we said earlier, seeing is believing so until we hear and see an actual device from Apple, it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now.
