While Garmin might be known as a company that specializes in navigational tools, the company in the recent years has gotten into the wearables game by launching fitness specific wearables. However if there was a downside to Garmin’s wearables is that the heart rate monitor was a separate device which had to be worn around the chest.
This isn’t exactly the most elegant solution but thankfully Garmin has worked to correct that. The company has recently launched the Garmin Forerunner 225. This is the company’s latest wearable and what makes it so appealing is the fact that it will come with a heart rate monitor built into it that has been developed by Mio.
What this means is that users will no longer need to worry about clunky heart rate monitors strapped to their chest. It also means that the Forerunner 225 should be able to compete with the likes of the Apple Watch which has its own heart rate monitor, and other fitness bands like the Jawbone UP3, Fitbit Charge HR, and the Microsoft Band, all of which has a built-in heart rate monitor.
The Forerunner 225 will come with the usual features such as a step counter and a built-in accelerometer for indoor runs. The device has been pegged for a release this quarter and will be sold for $300.
