Samsung is done with its first major product launch of this year. At Mobile World Congress 2015 the company unveiled the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the new handsets were then released last month. Now that that’s out of the way the company has get to work on the Galaxy Note 5 and the next-generation Galaxy Note Edge. In a new report today several details about these two handsets have been rumored.
It should be absolutely clear that nobody expects Samsung to release these devices ahead of schedule. The Note series traditionally gets its moment at IFA, which takes place in September and there’s no reason to think that the schedule will be changed for Galaxy Note 5.
According to the report the Galaxy Note 5 is either going to have a 2K or 4K Super AMOLED display with Samsung’s own Exynos 7422 processor and a modem that’s also developed by the company.
Apparently the Galaxy Note 5 will tout an all-in-one ePop solution which means the CPU, GPU, modem, store and RAM will all be on one single chip.
The next-generation Galaxy Note Edge is believed to be targeted at a lower market segment this time around, with a Snapdragon 808 processor, 5.4 or 5.5 inch Super AMOLED dual edge curved display, 16GB internal storage, 16 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front camera and S-Pen.
It’s unclear right now whether Samsung is going to use glass and metal like it did for the Galaxy S6, so it’s too soon to say whether the removable battery and microSD card slots will be removed from the Note lineup as well.
