Flickr Updates Mobile Apps With New Features

flickr-4.0

Flickr today announced version 4.0 of its iOS and Android apps, the refreshed applications now feature Flickr’s unified design so users get the same experience all of their different devices when they use this service to share and store their images. The update also brings some new features for users which make it easier than ever to automatically store photos and videos in the cloud as well as edit images right within the app itself without impacting the original file.

The Auto-Uploadr feature will automatically backup photos and videos to the free 1000GB cloud storage that all Flickr users get, it will even backup all existing photos and videos on the device.

Users don’t have to worry about multiple copies of their multimedia content, automatic “de-duplication” will ensure that no picture or video gets uploaded twice.

The Camera Roll is a new organizing and editing tool in Flickr for iOS and Android, it’s similar to Camera Roll on the desktop. Users can browse their entire catalog, select their photos with easy gestures and manage them.

Version 4.0 also lets users edit photos directly from Flickr in the Camera Roll without impacting the original file. The editor has received a new set of filters to provide users with more options.

The apps have also received Flickr’s powerful unified search feature to show them results from their own photos, from the people they follow and from the more than 10 billion photos on the site. Sharing to Instagram is built right into the app.

Flickr version 4.0 is available now from the App Store and the Google Play Store.
