The DROID Turbo is still stuck on Android 4.4 KitKat and until now there was no news regarding its upgrade to the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Motorola took to Twitter on Friday, the company’s tweet stated that the DROID Turbo will be straightaway upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The reason behind this is that apparently Verizon requires VoLTE support, and Android 5.1 natively comes equipped with that.
We're working w/ our partner on upgrading #DROIDTurbo directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1. Stay tuned for updates. http://t.co/plmLbamKad

It has been quite a while since Motorola has been promising the DROID users for an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade. Interestingly, the company gave somewhat similar statement at the launch of the device on October 28 and recently too it had announced an eventual upgrade of the device to Android 5.1, but two months have passed since then and no sign of update anywhere.
As per Luciano Carvalho, who is software engineer at Motorola, the Android 5.1 Lollipop will not be totally bug-free on the device as the operating system just can’t update to a new version without such glitches.
We expect Motorola to give out more information about the much-awaited update soon. The delay caused until now was not expected, especially from a company like Motorola, which is updating its other range of smartphones rather quickly. Stay tuned with us to know more about the update (if it comes this time).
