This will see both systems offered up as options to customers across a variety of the company’s Chevrolet models, ranging from the affordable Spark which starts at $15,000, up to the more expensive $55,000 Corvette, meaning that drivers who are shopping on a budget or drivers who have more money to spend will be able to take advantage of this new technology.
Both CarPlay and Android Auto will be synced directly with Chevy’s own MyLink infotainment system so that in addition to the features offered by CarPlay and Android Auto, drivers will also be able to make use of the system offered by Chevy’s MyLink as well.
According to Chevrolet’s director of user experience, Dan Kinney, “We want to change the way people use their smartphones in their car by making sure drivers keep their hands on the wheel. Voice activation is a critical component here.” Kinney also adds that GM will be working to retool its website and its dealerships to help customers learn more about the new systems.
