It does look as though the folks over at ASUS have been pretty busy, what with trying to make sure that the upcoming ZenSation event is going to run nice and smooth, as well as whispers of a ASUS ZenFone Selfie smartphone being worked on. Having said that, it looks as though there is yet another smartphone from ASUS that is in the pipeline, as it has been spotted on TENAA, China’s somewhat equivalent of the FCC. As for the identity of this mystery device, one can only make an educated guess that this is the ASUS ZenFone 3, although do take this guess with a pinch of salt.
After all, the ZenFone 2 range did not really arrive with easily identifiable model names, and hence a spanking new entry on TENAA’s website does drop a rather strong hint that a new smartphone could jolly well be joining up with the ZenFone family. Sporting the model number Z00EDB, you will be able to find the likes of a 5” 720p IPS display, an unnamed chipset that runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded using a microSD memory card.
There is also touted to be an 8MP shooter behind with a dual-tone LED flash, and a 5MP selfie camera. I guess patience will eventually see the identity of this smartphone being firmed up.
