We have been hearing rumors that Samsung is planning a more rugged version of its flagship Galaxy S6 handset in the form of the Galaxy S6 Active, and now thanks to the folks at GSMArena, they have managed to get their hands on what appears to be a leaked photo of the upcoming handset.
Now based on what we can tell, it certainly looks like the phone is built to withstand a couple of bumps and drops. The AT&T logo on the back of the phone also confirms the rumors that AT&T will be the carrier who will offer the handset, although we’re not sure if at this point in time other carriers are planning something similar as well.
As expected, it looks like the fingerprint sensor did not make its way onto the phone. Presumably this has to do with Samsung’s choice of going with more rugged buttons, or maybe because the fingerprint technology might not work so well if it comes into contact with water. Then again, last year’s Galaxy S5 Active did not sport a fingerprint sensor either, so this is hardly a surprise.
In terms of specs, nothing has been confirmed yet but according to the rumors, the phone will sport a 5.1-inch QHD display with an Exynos 7420 processor powering the phone. It will come with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a 16MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and will sport a 3,500mAh battery, a well deserve upgrade over the Galaxy S6’s 2,550mAh battery.
