We can only imagine it must be a special experience for parents to see the ultrasound scan of their unborn baby. Unfortunately not everyone has that privilege especially when you’re blind, and it’s not as if they make braille for images either. Well one lucky mom from Brazil managed to get a chance to “see” her unborn child through the technology of 3D printing.
This was setup by Huggies (the diaper brand) in Brazil who used 3D printing technology to print out the ultrasound scan of her baby. Now based on the scan it appears that the mom is pretty far along in her pregnancy as the baby’s features such as its ears, nose, eyes, mouth, and limbs can be seen rather clearly.
With 3D printing, it allowed the mom to touch the printed object and in turn “see” her baby. While the mom might never get to see her child in real life, we have to admit that this is a great place to start and it actually makes for a rather touching story. Huggies has put together a video of the event which they have dubbed “Meeting Murilo” and if you have a few minutes to spare, do check out the video above, but be warned, you might want to get some tissues ready.
