Just yesterday we reported that the 2014 Moto X was getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop update on U.S. Cellular and this update has now been released for the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition. Folks who own this device in the United States should keep an eye out for the update notification, Motorola has rolled out Android 5.1 Lollipop for this device in the country.
Motorola started off the update process for this device by releasing Android 5.1 for the 2014 Moto X in Brazil. Since then the company didn’t say much about the release timeframe for users in the United States.
Now though it appears that things have been set in motion. It started off yesterday with U.S. Cellular seeding the update for its Moto X variant.
2014 Moto X Pure Edition owners are receiving the update notification today which tells them that this update will bring their device up to Android 5.1, and that it includes better control over notifications, bug fixes and performance improvements as well as device protection that can keep the phone locked even if it’s stolen and reset to factory settings.
It’s likely to be a staggered roll out so don’t panic if you don’t immediately see the update notification on your device. It should take more than a couple of days though for this roll out process to be completed.
