Just last week it was hinted that Xiaomi could be preparing a new smartphone in the form of the Xiaomi Mi 4i, and sure enough it looks like at Xiaomi’s event which was held in New Delhi, India, the company has officially unveiled the handset, making it the Chinese company’s latest affordable smartphone device.
Right off the bat, the design is reminiscent of phones like the iPhone 5c and Microsoft’s Lumia range of Windows Phone handsets, thanks to its use of the wraparound plastic and the bright colors. In terms of specs, the phone will feature a 5-inch display made by Sharp and will sport a Full HD resolution.
Under the hood, the Mi 4i will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. As for battery life, the handset will come with a 3,120mAh battery which is pretty sizable already, but as an added bonus it will support quick charging thanks to its bundled 2A 5V charger.
The Mi 4i will also come with a 13MP rear-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera with an even faster f/1.8 lens. The phone will be priced around $205 but unfortunately for now, it looks like its target market is India, hence the “i” in its name. No word on whether it will be released for the rest of the world but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
