This is roughly equivalent to about over 2 million handsets, although to be fair this shopping spree was during Xiaomi’s “Mi Fan Festival”. The festival lasted 12 hours and was created in order to celebrate the company’s fifth anniversary. The products sold during that space of time was also discounted along with accessories which might explain why so many customers acted so fast and with such fervor.
The company was also hoping to break their record from last year which saw them sell around 1.3 million smartphones, and with the numbers tallying up to 2.12 million this year, it seems that they managed to do just that and that they weren’t too far off from actually doubling that amount. In addition to the smartphones sold, Xiaomi also sold 38,000 Mi TVs, 200,000 Mi Bands, and 247,000 Mi Power Strips.
The total amount of revenue Xiaomi made from non-phone sales has been estimated to be around $30.6 million which is nothing to sneeze at either. Assuming Xiaomi continues to sell and grow at this pace, we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they really do overtake both Apple and Samsung to become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.
