windows-phone-8.1-multi-window

Windows Phone 8.1 does not allow users to run two apps side-by-side and Microsoft has not yet said that an update is on the cards which will add this feature. Interestingly though a picture has appeared online of a Lumia 930 running what appears to be a version of Windows Phone 8.1 with a Multi-Window feature, which essentially allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously.

It’s immediately clear from the photo that’s its probably an unreleased build of Windows Phone 8.1 because it doesn’t look like the upcoming Windows 10 for Phones at all. The accompanying article claims that this feature will only be enabled on WP 8.1 devices that have displays larger than 5 inches.

However one should keep in mind that Microsoft has not announced anything regarding this feature, or a major Windows Phone 8.1 update for that matter, so the possibility exists that this could be a meticulous fake.

It’s too soon to say right now if a new Windows Phone 8.1 update is around the corner which will add this feature to supported devices.

Many users aren’t even looking out for this update since they’re too engrossed in testing preview builds of Windows 10 for Phones that Microsoft is periodically releasing.

The company seems to be fully focused on Windows 10 right now which is destined to arrive this summer, perhaps it may talk about this feature at today’s BUILD conference, but I wouldn’t cross my fingers just yet.
