Twitter, the micro blogging site that has its fair share of users, including on astronaut who recently paid homage to Star Trek by snapping a selfie and tweeting about it, all decked out in a Trekkie uniform while she was floating around in the International Space Station. Well, we are pleased to bring you word that Twitter will now enable users to receive direct messages from other users, and it does not matter whether users follow one another or not – this would be a double-edged sword I guess, as this is another potential avenue for spam operators to take advantage of.
Twitter is currently going through the upgrading process of its hugely popular direct message feature, so that as mentioned above, users can then pick up messages from other users, never mind if they are not following one another. Will it be able to achieve its objective of drawing more people to Twitter in the long run, or will it have an opposite effect instead, or not having any effect at all? Time to send Star Wars emoji to strangers!
