So far, this has been verified by other sites such as AppleInsider, as the issue has been verified on an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air 2. Apparently, this particular issue allegedly affects majority or all Touch ID-enabled devices, including the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 Plus. Affected people are required to enter their Apple ID when making a purchase despite having Touch ID enabled for the App Store via the “Touch ID & Passcode” menu that can be found under Settings.
Users did try to toggle the option off and on without experiencing any success, and even on freshly restored devices, this seems to happen. One potential workaround could be to disable ID requests when it comes to free downloads, although a password will still be considered to be compulsory when it comes to paid apps. As for the remaining uses of Touch ID, it looks as though those will be unaffected, including device unlocks and Apple Pay.
