For the past few weeks we have been hearing whispers that Microsoft could launch a new tablet very soon. Just last week the company formally unveiled the Surface 3 tablet. It’s the successor to the Surface 2 tablet, this time around the cheaper Surface runs full Windows, so it can also be viewed as the final nail in Windows RT’s coffin. What about a new Surface Pro tablet though? If reports are to be believed it may not arrive until October 2015.
According to reports Microsoft may decide against launching the Surface Pro 4, if that’s what it ends up calling the tablet, during the summer. June or July to be precise. Instead the company is expected to wait until October.
Perhaps the reason why Microsoft might decide to do this is to make it the first device that comes with Windows 10 pre-installed. Microsoft’s new software is expected to be launched to consumers around the same time as well.
Given the fact that Windows 10 is going to be a free upgrade for everyone running Windows 8.1 it’s not like Microsoft can’t just release the tablet sooner. Customers who pick up the tablet won’t exactly be saving money on the new Windows update anyway.
Despite whispers about a possible release timeframe not much is known about the Surface Pro 4 tablet, though one can expect to hear rumors about the specifications as the launch comes near.
So far Microsoft hasn’t even hinted when the next Surface Pro tablet could arrive, we’ll keep our ear to the ground for more information.
