Before we had high-speed internet, playing games on the computer sometimes consisted of launching a game of Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts, games that came bundled by default on Microsoft’s Windows platform. These games were always part of the operating system until Windows 8 in which Microsoft decided to remove them.
This was despite the Redmond company admitting that they had a devoted following. The good news is that Microsoft has since changed their mind and will be bringing Solitaire back to Windows 10, as you can see in the screenshot above which was tweeted by Steve Troughton Smith. We’re not sure why Microsoft changed their mind but we’re not complaining!
This is the same modern version of the game found on Windows 8, but the difference is that unlike Windows 8 where you would have to download it from the Windows Store, in Windows 10 the game will come bundled by default. This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Microsoft give in to the requests of its users, like when the company brought back the Start Menu in an update to Windows 8.
Unfortunately for now it seems that Hearts and Minesweeper are still not bundled by default and will have to be downloaded from the Windows Store, but hopefully by the time Microsoft releases Windows 10, which is apparently scheduled for late July, they would have included it in the operating system already.
