Skype Translator Does Italian and Mandarin Now

At the end of last year, we did bring you word on how Skype (which is now owned by Microsoft after an $8.5 billion deal) is capable of translating one’s voice calls, and here we are with more developments on the translation side of things. In fact, Skype always wants to make life easier for folks to connect with others worldwide, regardless of where they are, as well as the language that they speak. Skype Translator’s latest milestone would be the inclusion of Italian and Chinese (Mandarin) support, which would join both the Spanish and English entourage.

One can simply imagine just how challenging it is to tackle Mandarin, even for Skype Translator. There are approximately 10,000 characters and multiple tones to master, which makes it one of the most difficult languages for a native English speaker to be able to understand or work with, placing it on par with the likes of Arabic, Japanese, and Korean.
