Based on the data, Samsung’s global market share is sitting at 27.8%. This is based on smartphone shipments alone. This also represents a rather impressive increase from Q4 2014 where Samsung was sitting at 24.7%. This puts them way ahead of Apple who is at 19.9% in Q1 2015 which is actually a drop from Q4 where the Cupertino company was at 23.2%. It looks like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets did a good job at drawing customers to it.
As for other OEMs on the list, we have Huawei at 7% for Q1, an increase of 0.1% from the last quarter. LG is also on that list in fourth place at 6.2%, an increase from 5.3% last quarter and will also be interesting to watch with the LG G4’s launch coming up. Lenovo is also on that list with a 6% market share, a drop from 7.1% last quarter. Oddly enough other handset manufacturers did not make the list, such as HTC or Sony.
