With the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge having been released to the masses, there have been reports that some Galaxy S6 Edge owners are having some issues with the auto-rotate function on their phones in the sense that the function no longer works. The reports have largely stemmed from Verizon and Sprint customers, but there is no reason to think that AT&T or T-Mobile’s models haven’t been affected either.
According to the reports, users are claiming that the auto-rotate function works for a few days before it suddenly stops. Rebooting the phone does not change anything, nor does enabling/disabling the feature. What this means is that phones are now stuck in the portrait mode meaning that in some instances and for some apps, the UI is a little messed up.
It has been speculated that this could be an issue with the accelerometer which stopped functioning, as opposed to being a software one, but since there is no official word from any of the carriers or Samsung themselves, it’s pretty much anyone’s guess as to what the problem could be. The only fix is to send it back to your carrier for a device swap.
For those who think that their auto-rotate function is spoilt too, all you’d have to do is head to your dialer, type *#0*# and tap on “Sensor”, after which it should show that your “X” is stuck on -32768. If that is indeed the case, like we said the only solution available to users at the moment is to get their device changed for a new one.
