Thankfully Twitter caught on quick because an update has since been issued in which the user’s location will no longer be so specific. As you can see in the screenshots above, before the update the user’s location could be zoomed in pretty far and gave away your specific location. We can only assume that apps like Periscope could create stalkers so giving away such a specific location is probably a pretty bad idea.
However with the update, it will now only show users roughly where you might be in a very zoomed out map. This will still give users a rough idea of the city/country you are in without actually telling them which street or house you are at. That being said disabling your location has always been a feature, but for those who might want to broadcast their location because they are traveling, hopefully this privacy update will be a welcomed one.
