It looks like the gaming industry’s maiden and serious attempt at cloud streaming has not proven itself to be the kind of success that it initially envisioned to be, and it does look as though there will be no new subscriptions to be put up on offer from today. As for Sony’s acquisition of OnLive’s intellectual property, the agreed fee remains a secret between the two companies, although one cannot help but wonder whether Sony might want to make use of these newly acquired patents to boost its very own PlayStation Now cloud streaming platform that is currently powered by the Gaikai company which was picked up by Sony three years back for a cool $380 million.
