About a year back nascent smartphone company OnePlus launched its first device, the OnePlus One. It brought impressive specifications at a very decent price but there was one big caveat. Sales were limited and potential customers had to jump through hoops like invitations and contests. Since then the company has gradually increased supply and earlier this year designated Tuesday as the only day when one could buy the device without an invite.
Now though things have changed for the better. OnePlus has confirmed today that the OnePlus One can now be purchased on any day of the week without needing an invite.
The company has taken this step as it gears up to launch its new smartphone and it’s unclear as yet whether the new handset will stick to the invite system for sales initially or whether customers will be able to purchase it easily from day one.
According to some reports OnePlus may actually release two new handsets this year but the company is yet to confirm any of this. It will be conducting an event in the coming days so perhaps that’s when we’ll get to know for sure what’s in OnePlus’s roadmap for 2015.
Both 16GB white and 64GB black models are now directly available for purchase at any time from the OnePlus website for $299 and $349 respectively.
