Netflix Begins Streaming First 13 Episodes Of The X-Files In HD

The X-Files was first aired in 1993 meaning that about 22 years have passed since then, and in the process video quality has improved tremendously. Now if you’re a fan of the TV series or if you’re looking to see what all the fuss is about, you might be pleased to learn that Netflix has begun streaming the first 13 episodes of the series in HD.

The TV series was originally aired in the 4:3 format but after seeing the HD version, it has been speculated that perhaps it was originally shot in widescreen but was later cropped for TV broadcast, but either way the HD treatment certainly gives the show a rather refreshing makeover and one that fans won’t want to miss out on.

It should be noted that the first season of The X-Files consists of 24 episodes, so the release of 13 episodes in HD is a little over half of the first season. It is unclear as to whether Netflix will begin offering the reason the season and the rest of the series in HD, but after seeing the difference in quality, we certainly hope that will be the case.

For those who are looking for a more modern day take on the TV series, it was announced last month that The X-Files will be making a return to TV as a six episode limited series. Production of the series is expected to begin this summer but it is unclear as to when it will be released, what its plot will be, and if any of its cast, apart from David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, will be returning.
