So for customers who are after some smartwatches but don’t want to pay too much money for the Apple Watch or the LG Watch Urbane, hopefully these new prices will make them more tempting. While we can’t be sure why Google has decided to reduce the prices of its Android Wear lineup, presumably it is so that more inventory space can be made for newer devices.
That being said, it is possible that devices like the Moto 360 are being discounted because its successor could be on its way. Previously we had seen alleged images of the Moto 360’s successor and there has been some rumors regarding that with a device codenamed “Smelt”. Based on what we know, “Smelt” has a slightly higher resolution than the current Moto 360, but beyond that is anyone’s guess.
Google I/O will be kicking off from the 28-29th of May in San Francisco so hopefully Google and their smartwatch OEMs will have some announcements to share. In the meantime interested customers can pop on over to the Google Play Store and get their hands on the discounted LG G Watch R or the Moto 360.
