This is why it isn’t surprising to find that according to a new study presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies annual meeting (via Time) has revealed that more than a third of kids in the US who are under the age of one have experienced what it’s like to use a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet. That number, to be more specific, is a whopping 36%.
That number decreases further to 30% for kids aged one, and falls to 2% at age 4. Interestingly enough it was found that kids using mobile devices to play games peaked at age two at 36%, but started to drop after that. The study also found that parents mainly gave their kids access to the device while they were doing chores around the house.
This was followed by using mobile devices to calm their child at 65%, used to entertain their kids while running errands at 60%, and 29% said that they used mobile devices to help put their kids to bed. Now as much as parents would love to give their kids access to old school toys and books like they were growing up, the fact is that society these days has made such devices commonplace and not using them could end up being disadvantageous, but what do you guys make of the study?
