It has been a while since Google released a major update for Android Wear and today the company is taking care of that. It has announced that a substantial update for Android Wear will be rolled out in the coming weeks and it will bring new features like Wi-Fi support, always-on apps and many others.

It was previously rumored that the next major update for Android Wear is going to bring Wi-Fi support, and this one does. This means that the Android Wear smartwatch that can connect to Wi-Fi will be able to receive notifications and messages even if the wearable device is not connected to a smartphone.

Google will now allow other apps to remain always-on, meaning that they won’t be closed when the user drop their arm. The app will remain visible as long as they need it to be so that the information is just one glance away. It will remain in ambient mode and will switch to full color only when the user is actively looking at it, this will help conserve battery life.

The update will also allow users to flick their wrist in order to scroll through the stream, this feature will come in handy if the users have their hands full. It also adds the ability to draw different emojis directly on the watch screen when can then be sent via message or text.

All seven Android Wear watches will be receiving this update in the coming weeks, starting with the Watch Urbane from LG.
