Yahoo-owned blogging platform Tumblr today released a major update of its iOS application that brings a highly requested feature. With Tumblr for iOS version 4.0 users will now be able to create new secondary blogs whenever they want, previously in order to do this they had to leave the app and go online to create a new secondary blog. Users had been asking for this feature to be incorporated within the app itself and Tumblr has finally followed through with the solution.
The app has a new version number, 4.0, as well as a new icon. Users will now also be able to submit to submission blogs using the app so if they come across a blog that’s looking for posts they can send one directly through the app.
Another much requested feature has been added, the ability to make video posts using a video URL. It’s as simple as copying and pasting the URL.
Tumblr for iOS version 4.0 also lets users filter searches by post type. There’s one-finger access to what’s trending on Tumblr, a sticky search bar, sticky avatars, better GIF loading and much more. There’s even an improved iPad layout in this version.
The new Tumblr app for iPhone and iPad is live now and can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
