You know that mouse that came bundled with your computer with the company’s branding on it? There is a good chance that it could have been made by Logitech, but apparently that will no longer be the case. According to a report from Reuters, the company claims that they will no longer be manufacturing computer mice for other companies.
Basically in this case Logitech was acting as a manufacturer where companies would get the company to build mice for them but use their own company logo instead, which is kind of like what some companies do when they create reference designs in which other companies can license and use their own branding in the process. This helps companies without the manufacturing capabilities to churn out their own hardware.
That being said, there was a brief moment of confusion in which it was interpreted as Logitech exiting the mouse business entirely. Given that many gamers and PC users heavily rely on Logitech’s offerings, some of which are pretty impressive and noteworthy, it did come as a shock. However Logitech quickly clarified the situation in a statement which reads, “To clarify, Logitech will continue its commitment to designing the world’s best mice. However, we will no longer be manufacturing mice for third-party PC vendors.”
