It was first rumored a few months back that Microsoft was building a brand new web browser codenamed Project Spartan. The company has officially unveiled the browser but so far has not revealed what the final moniker is going to be. Like Internet Explorer the new browser will also work on Microsoft’s mobile platform. The latest Windows 10 for Phones preview build finally brings Project Spartan to Windows Phone powered devices.
Windows 10 for desktop preview users have already been able to get their hands on Project Spartan. It has been built from the ground up and is powered by a completely new engine, which will not be powering Internet Explorer, despite Microsoft’s previous assurance.
Windows Insiders who have the latest Windows 10 for Phones preview installed can try out Project Spartan on their mobile devices. The new build also brings Reading View and Reading List features.
In this release the Outlook Mail and Outlook Calendar apps are also included. New Messaging and Phone app are onboard as well as a revamped App Switcher, Maps and People app.
Microsoft did promise a couple of weeks back that the latest preview will bring support for more devices. While it does do that, people who own a Lumia Icon, Lumia 930 or the Lumia 640XL will have to continue waiting for their devices to support the beta software as Microsoft is currently working on fixing a scaling issue.
