The company announced via its blog that they finally have a specific date for its release which is the 20th of April, although this will only apply to customers who have pre-ordered the device. However Jawbone notes that there are some changes they will be making to the product which also explains its delay.
For starters the UP3 will no longer be water resistant up to 10 meters as originally intended. This was a feature that Jawbone had wanted for the UP3 but during their manufacturing process, it seems that a good portion of their units had failed this test. However water resistance will still be part of the fitness tracker’s feature, it’s just that it will not be up to 10 meters.
According to the company, “UP3 will now ship with a water resistance comparable to, and in line with, most other multi-sensor trackers. This means that UP3 is resistant to everyday splashing, including while washing hands or in the shower, but it is unsuitable for swimming or submerged use.” Those who have already pre-ordered the tracker can go ahead and cancel their orders without any charge, says Jawbone.
So, anyone disappointed by this little change? Or are you still eagerly looking forward to getting your hands on the tracker?
