Earlier today we reported that Jawbone announced the Up4 fitness tracker. This is basically the Jawbone Up3 with the main difference being that it allowed mobile wallet payments through the use of NFC and a partnership with American Express. It also came with a price tag of $200, but if you’re not willing to spend that much, then perhaps the Jawbone Up2 might be right up your alley.
Alongside the Jawbone Up4, the company also announced the Jawbone Up2. The Up2 is the successor to the Jawbone Up24 that was launched back in 2013 and it will also come with a much more affordable price tag of $99 which is half of that of the Jawbone Up4. Jawbone has made some improvements to the wearable by making it 45% smaller than the Up24, or so the company claims.
The device will come with a battery that is said to last a good week, and will also come with the usual health tracking features and will also be able to double up as a sleep monitor. It will pair with the Smart Coach app from Jawbone, so if you’re looking for a small fitness tracker without the frills, then this could be it.
However it will not come with a heart rate monitor, something that the Up3, Up4, and other fitness trackers are starting to incorporate. So if heart rate monitoring is essential for you, then you’ll need to spend a little extra for that feature. It is expected to be made available on Jawbone and Amazon’s website this week and will be available for immediate shipping.
