Dubbed the HTC Cello, which could be its codename, this was revealed in a post on Reddit in which it describes a system that appears to be more feature-packed than CarPlay or Android Auto, at least on paper. While there was no specific reference made to cars or vehicles, the description of the device certainly sounds like it would be ideal as an infotainment unit in vehicles.
The note describes features such as night vision, sonar, DVD, tire pressure monitoring systems, lane departure warning systems, navigation, and GPS, all of which certainly sounds like it would right at home in a car. It also seems like HTC could be developing a special version of their Sense UI which could be integrated into its system.
This is actually not the first time that HTC’s interest in cars has been reported. Last year this feature was said to have been in testing and it was dubbed Autobot at that time, but it looks like HTC Cello could be its final name. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but it will be interesting to see how this might turn out if it is true.
