Gmail Users Affected By Glitch

We do seem to be rather particular about making sure that the online services which we use will remain up and running most of the time, and get upset or annoyed when that does not happen. Well, it seems that Gmail users were recently affected by software issue – and in no part is it the users’ fault, as Google themselves forgot to renew the security contract, now how about that?

Over the weekend, Gmail as well as a slew of other Google apps did show up error messages concerning an issue which arose from the failure to renew a security certificate. Apart from errors, Gmail users, too, were faced with safety warnings, and despite folks still being able to gain access and make use of Gmail, it was said that a rather notable portion of users experienced “unexpected behaviour” because of this particular glitch.

The error messages started to show up early on the 4th of April, and those who were affected did try to send email messages from Gmail as well as several of the other messaging applications. The certificate in question which Google failed to renew was one that helped the software establish a secure connection to a destination, in order for the messages to be sent while minimizing the chances of it being peeked at, so to speak. At the end of the day, it looks like all’s well that ends well, right?
