The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have a fingerprint sensor in the home button which allows easy and swift unlocking of the device. Samsung has gone with a touch-based sensor this time around, instead of the swipe-based in the predecessor, basically its more accurate and fast. Samsung’s latest flagships also have another neat little feature that lets users quickly and easily unlock their device, it’s called Direction Lock.

Simply put, the Direction Lock feature lets users unlock the device by swiping between four to eight times on the screen. No need to place your finger on the sensor or punch in a code.

It shouldn’t take long for this to just become muscle memory. Users won’t even have to pick up the phone to unlock it, they’ll just need to swipe quickly on the display to unlock it.

Samsung isn’t the only OEM that lets people use the screen to unlock their device. LG’s Knock Code feature lets users tap a pre-determined pattern on the display to unlock the device. It’s easy and fast.

Those who are interested in switching on the Direction Lock feature can head over to the Settings app and go in the Accessibility menu, there they can set the series of swipes needed to unlock the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.
