U.S. Cellular is finally releasing the anxiously awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. It surely took its sweet time to get the update out to these devices. Most of the major carriers in the country are already done with Lollipop for these two handsets. Nevertheless, U.S. Cellular subscribers won’t be thinking about that today when the update notification pops up on their device.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge at IFA last year, both devices were released soon after the event. They came with KitKat pre-installed and were among the first few devices that Samsung rolled out Lollipop for.
People with carrier units have to wait longer for the update since carriers first run their own tests on the update before they send it out, which is why it may take up to a few months after an OEM announces the rollout of an update to when it actually arrives.
Majority of the users in the United States are well aware of this fact so manage expectations accordingly. With Android 5.0 finally arriving on their Note 4 and Note Edge handsets, U.S, Cellular subscribers can finally get a taste of Lollipop.
The update file is over 1GB in size so it may take a while to download, particularly if the user is on an average Wi-Fi network.
