Just a few months back Samsung launched the first smartphone in the J-series, the Galaxy J1. It was a low-end device with a 4.3-inch display, 512MB RAM and a 5 megapixel rear camera. According to a report the company is going to introduce solid mid-range devices into the J-series. The next devices are said to be the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7.
The report comes from the folks at Sammobile who have been right about these things many times in the past. According to the scribe’s sources the company has these two mid-range handsets in the pipeline and they’ll be released to the market in just a few months.
SM-J500F or the Galaxy J5 will reportedly have a 5-inch HD LCD display with a quadcore 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood married to 1.5GB RAM. A microSD card is also expected alongside 8GB of onboard storage.
Galaxy J7, model number SM-J700F, is believed to come with a 5.5-inch HD LCD display, a 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz octacore Marvel PXA1936 processor with 1.5GB RAM, 4 or 8GB of onboard storage, microSD card slot and more.
Both devices will reportedly be powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop from the get go and they’ll also have support for 4G LTE.
The report doesn’t say what material Samsung will be using to make these devices, whether it’s going to go with the tried and tested plastic or whether it’s going to opt for metal like it did with the Galaxy A series.
