There are only a handful of OEMs that have developed set-top boxes that run Android TV. The first one was Google’s own Nexus Player. Razer is one OEM that came out with an Android TV set-top box, the Forge TV is already available for pre-order through Amazon. Now though it’s possible to pre-order the set-top box from Razer itself, the controller bundle is also available directly from the company.
Interested customers can now place a pre-order for the Forge TV at Razer’s online store. The company is also accepting pre-orders for a bundle that comes with a Serval controller. Forge TV will start shipping on April 29th while the bundle will be released on May 5th.
Powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor with 2GB of RAM, the Forge TV is powered by Android TV. It has 16GB of onboard storage, USB 3.0 port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a gigabit Ethernet port.
The Forge TV set-top box alone costs $99.99, that’s the same price you’ll play for the Nexus Player or the Fire TV from Amazon. Apple TV was once sold for this price but the company recently cut its price.
Serval controller bundle costs $149.99 and does include the controller alongside the set-top box. Razer offers free shipping for both options.
