For the third year running Apple CEO Tim Cook is teaming up with Charitybuzz to auction off some of his very valuable time. Whoever wins the auction will be treated to a private lunch with Tim Cook at Apple’s HQ in Cupertino, California. This time around Cook is also throwing in two VIP passes for an upcoming Apple keynote, this is unprecedented, since access to the company’s keynotes is strictly regulated.
Even though Charitybuzz says that the events will be scheduled at the earliest possible dates that are acceptable to both Cook and the auction winner, it may take up to a year to get the dates that work for both parties.
Cost of the lunch at Cupertino will be covered in the auction bid but the winner will have to pay for their own travel and accommodation expenses. The auction has already started and will end at 3:04 pm Eastern on May 6th, 2015.
Go for it if you happen to have a ton of money, because last year despite Charitybuzz’s $100,000 estimate of the worth of this experience, the winning bid came in at over $300,000.
If previous trends are followed then it’s quite possible that this time around the winning bid might be even higher. Currently 12 bids have already been placed and the price has exceeded $37,000.
All proceeds from this auction will be donated to the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights which supports many human rights causes around the world.
