CyanogenMod Will Not Have Pre-Loaded Microsoft Apps

CyanogenMod has revealed today that the community version of its ROM will not feature exclusive partner apps such as, Microsoft Office, Google apps and many more. This revelation comes from the non-corporate panel of CyanogenMod, while CyanogenMod OS has other set of plans since it will come pre-loaded with Microsoft products.

If you are not familiar with the terminology, CyanogenMod is the community-driven version of Cyanogen, which get supdated very frequently, while Cyanogen OS is meant to be distributed by OEM phone makers directly. Both share the came code base, but are on slightly different agenda at times.

The information let out by the CyanogenMod means that the next CM Nightly will not feature any Microsoft app on it, such kind of apps will be exclusive to the devices such as OnePlus One and Yu Yureka.

CyanogenMod shared a blog post, in which it gave a detailed view on the upcoming changes. The company justifies the changes as a way of giving more options to the users to use the applications as per their liking and not according to what’s “forced on them”.

It also emphasized on the correct installation of Google apps packages, which are compatible with the Android 5.1. The company is also working on resolving the long due issue of a bug with the CM Gerrit for Google OAuth users, it might be addressed by this weekend.
