Buying gold in MMORPGs is usually frowned upon as developers believe that there are some gold farmers out there who actually hack player accounts in order to steal said gold. This is why when players are caught buying gold, their accounts are usually suspended/banned. However with World of Warcraft, Blizzard is hoping to change that.
The developers have announced that come 7th April, they will be introducing the WoW Token to the game. We should note that the WoW Token isn’t new per se as this was announced by Blizzard awhile ago, but it is only now that they will be introducing it to the game. For those who might have missed the earlier announcement, WoW Tokens are basically a way for gamers to purchase game time and to earn gold in the process.
The tokens can be purchased via Blizzard’s in-game store for $20 and can be sold on the Auction House in the game. How much these tokens sell for will really depending on the economy in the game due to supply and demand but at the start, Blizzard has stated that they will be setting the initial gold value themselves. Players who purchase the tokens can then redeem it for game time.
It’s an interesting idea albeit it does seem a bit more pricier compared to other gold websites, but considering that this is allowed and endorsed by Blizzard, perhaps paying a few extra bucks is better than having your entire account banned, right?
