Apple and Twitter already work closely together when it comes to integrating the micro-blogging service with the Cupertino company’s software, and it appears that they’re going to take yet another major step to further improve this relationship. Soon Apple’s Spotlight search feature will bring up tweets as well, currently both companies are working on making this happen but it’s most certainly in the pipeline.

That’s because word about this came straight from Twitter CEO Dick Costolo himself, who revealed that Spotlight search will display tweets as well during Twitter’s quarterly earnings call yesterday.

Costolo was asked to provide more details about this tie-up and how the feature would actually work in Spotlight, however he declined to reveal more.

Apple’s software already features deep integration with Twitter, iOS and OS X users are both provided with system-level Twitter account management which lets them grant and pull access for apps through System Preferences. Users are also allowed to tweet directly from the share sheets in iOS and OS X, as well as the Notification Center in OS X.

So it has only been confirmed that this is going to happen, we don’t know as yet when it will happen and precisely how this integration into Apple’s Spotlight search engine is going to look.
