It seems that the good people over at Microsoft as well as Forgotten Empires have a soft spot for the Age Of Empires franchise where it looks as though there is a spanking new Age Of Empires 2: HD expansion pack coming our way. And not a moment too soon, too, especially when you take into consideration how it has been 16 years ever since the original title arrived on store shelves. Age of Empires 3 might be a byword now, but Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings will still continue on in expansion pack.
Forgotten Empires happens to be the very same team behind The Forgotten expansion that was rolled out just one year back, and this particular collaboration with Microsoft Studios will hopefully be able to yield some rather interesting results. The upcoming expansion pack has yet to be given a name, although Microsoft did mention that “[we are] extremely excited to reveal that we’ll be working with the Forgotten Empires team to formally bring a new expansion to the Age of Empires franchise later this year.”
Do expect the next add-on to boast of new civilizations to play as so that gamers won’t get too bored with the franchise, not to mention the usual slew of inclusions such as extra campaigns, game modes, and units, among others.
