Xiaomi might not have been a brand many of you would have been familiar with a few years ago, but thanks to the company’s extremely affordable handsets, they have managed to catapult themselves into the mainstream and have even displaced companies such as Samsung in China and have claimed the number 3 spot as the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.
This is why it does not really come as a surprise to learn that Microsoft is interested in the company and according to a recent post on Microsoft’s website, it seems that Xiaomi is currently testing out Windows 10 on mobile devices which could see the company potentially release a Windows 10 smartphone later this year.
According to the Microsoft post, Xiaomi is testing out Windows 10 on the Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone and that a select group of Mi 4 owners will be chosen to help test Windows 10 on the device. The Mi 4 was launched in the middle of last year and packs some pretty decent specs under the hood, and let’s not forget its rather stunning design as well.
What’s also interesting is the fact that despite the Mi 4 running on Android, it would seem that Windows 10 can also be supported. We’re not sure if we could be looking at a dual-booting situation or if users will have to format their phone and replace it with Windows 10, but it is an interesting development nonetheless.
