The good news is that it appears that the latest version of WhatsApp has enabled the feature for everyone. This means that you will not need to rely on users with the feature to activate it for you, hacks, tricks, or getarounds. However we suppose there is another small catch and that is this particular version of WhatsApp – version 2.12.19 – will have to be downloaded directly from WhatsApp’s website.
This means that the official update to the app for Android has yet to be pushed to the Google Play Store (at this time of writing) so if you’d rather not wait for the official update, then downloading the APK directly is one way to go about it. Users who choose to do that will have to remember to enable “Unknown Sources” in their phone’s Security Settings.
Once that has been done and the app has been successfully installed, you should see the updated UI where the Calls functionality has been enabled. Using the feature will be pretty straightforward. The feature has yet to be released for iOS users although it is expected to in the next few weeks.
