There were talks that VAIO could be thinking about launching a smartphone of their own and this was followed up by an alleged image of the handset’s packaging and its certification in Japan. For those wondering what a VAIO might look like, wonder no more as the company has officially taken the wraps off its first ever smartphone.
Dubbed the VAIO Phone, we have to admit that this phone certainly has nothing too impressive about it. In fact it would most likely be lost amongst the sea of mid-range phones by the competition from Sony, Motorola, LG, Samsung, and let’s not forget aggressive companies out of China such as Xiaomi and Huawei.
The handset will come with a 5-inch 720p HD display and will be powered by a 1.2GHz processor. There will be 2GB of RAM accompanying the handset and it will also sport a 13MP rear-facing camera and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It also appears to run on a relatively stock version of Android so for those worried about bloatware, you can rest easy.
No word on whether it will be making its way out of Japan but assuming that VAIO does have plans for an international launch, it is safe to say that the company certainly needs to step its game up.
