Turkey Could Issue Minecraft Ban
I don’t know about you, but this sure as heck sounds like a bird brain of a move by the Turkish government, especially when the republic’s Family and Social Policies Ministry has moved in favor for a nationwide ban of Minecraft. This was done after an investigation was carried out in February, as to ascertain whether Minecraft happened to be a game that promoted violence. As a result, the conclusion claimed that the game was “too violent” which made it unsuitable for children, and an approval from Turkish courts is the only thing left that is required to see that ban enforced.
Isn’t it enough that Turkey had already banned Twitter in the past, not to mention having plans to block out YouTube as well? If one were to talk about inciting violence in children, then Angry Birds would have been a pretty strong case to fall back upon, especially when there has been examples in China where children decided to strap fireworks onto real sparrows and toss them away, waiting for the fireworks to go off – and in the process, maim or kill the poor bird.
Hopefully the Turkish courts would have more common sense to see how there are way other more direct ways for one to pick up violence than through Minecraft.
