Last year Google unveiled a new platform that extends Android’s reach into your car. The platform is called Android Auto. Some of the biggest car manufacturers have already committed to support Android Auto and build it into their future models. Aftermarket head units that run on this platform will also be available. TuneIn has brought its internet radio service to Android Auto so that you can stream stations and podcasts while on the move.
Google designed Android Auto to bring entertainment, messaging and navigation to the car experience with a user interface that’s optimized for driving and tries its best to ensure that drivers are not distracted when they have to interact with the system.
TuneIn Radio is going to be among the very few apps that are available with Android Auto at launch. The app will run in any Android Auto equipped car and its service will run without any issues. People who use TuneIn Radio on Android Auto will be able to easily listen to radio stations and shows seamlessly.
For those looking for aftermarket solutions, Pioneer has created Android Auto head units, which can be installed in just about any car. The units have 7-inch touchscreens and are capable of playing CDs and DVDs. An Android 5.0 Lollipop powered phone will also be required to enable the Android Auto experience in the car.
