At an event today in New York T-Mobile announced its ninth “uncarrier” initiative. The company has been making these uncarrier moves as a way to distinguish itself from the competition. The growth in subscribers that it has witnessed in recent quarters is proof enough that these moves seem to be working. Though the latest announcement concerns businesses and not the average consumer. T-Mobile today introduced a simple lineup of plans created with businesses in mind.
These simple plans from T-Mobile will provide unlimited talk and text with 1GB of LTE data to start. For $160 per month businesses can add up to ten lines. Companies that have more than 20 employees will pay $15 per line.
This means that any company that adds $100 lines will have to pay $1,500 per month. Sounds simple enough. T-Mobile says that its new plans are up to 40 percent cheaper than offerings from Verizon and AT&T.
For larger businesses the carrier has introduced what COO Mike Sievert calls an “unprecedented” move, companies that add up to 1,000 lines will pay only $10 per line.
T-Mobile is also going to allow business customers to extend a discount of up to 50 percent to family members.
It will be up to businesses to decide if they want to add more data, which they can on a per-line basis, though T-Mobile will allow them to add data through pooled configurations.
Companies that decide they want more data will receive a free .com domain, T-Mobile has teamed up with GoDaddy for this, and they will also get a .com email address which will be powered by Microsoft.
